We implemented a data warehouse for DELEC with their choice of database: MS SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services (OLAP). It is used daily and helps DELEC to create reports automatically as well as to distribute the reports daily with up to the minute information.In order to accomplish this task, a reporting engine is provided that allows DELEC to combine invoices, open invoices, open timesheets, budget and add any other information which is relevant to the business. The information is consolidated and can be viewed in a hierarchical approach (numbers by state, county, city, office, sales team, sales person) and can be dissected by date range, product group and other input factors. Depending on an employee's function, the view is limited (only sees own data, the data of the department, the store, the region or the whole company).
This is an excellent tool for managers to know the situation of the company as well as give the sales force the capability to monitor their own activity.
