| ProsusProsus was founded in 1969 and is now one of the largest, independent and certified companies for the pork industry. They handle everything from breeding and logistics to selling. Their transportation fleet contains 17 large trucks with 16 trailers and 2 smaller trucks with trailers, which are specialized for transporting live animals.Project DescriptionThis application organizes and tracks the client's pigs at every moment, and it also interfaces with their accounting system. The core of the program is a transport planning tool which calculates the shortest possible route for the pig transporters. There are many laws and guidelines concerning the transportation of animals and all of them are built into the system to ensure the transport runs smoothly and complies with all the laws. Some of the laws are:
- The pigs cannot be on route for longer than 2 hours - this includes traffic jams
- Best quality pigs must be loaded in the front, lesser quality pigs in the back
- Disease areas must be avoided
- Transportation marks must be noted (e.g. cannibalism)
The transportation planner solution accepts data from a variety of sources and prints a map with the shortest route that complies with all laws.
